This article reports an investigation of the role a computer simulation may play to stimulate conceptual change in the field of mechanics teaching. The development of the computer program is described, along with trial experiences in classroom situations. It is found not to be easy at all to construct a program which initiates the desired process of conceptual change. From reflection on the development process, recommandations are formulated for the development and use of similar computer simulations.
