Against exorcisers of differentials and their quotients the author stresses their didactical value. The least and most fundamental thing students have to learn in a calculus high school course is differentials and their quotients. Elaborating on “Mathematics as an Educational Task” the authorclaims in differential equations — an exam subject at ours — forming rather than solving them is the didactically crucial point where differentials enter.
