Usually the concept of a function is developed without much feeling for the real world. For this reason it doesn’t seem to function very well within other disciplines like physics, economics and chemistry. In the booklet – Wadlopen – developed by the Foundation for Curriculum Development the concept of a junction is introduced within the context of walking and hiking in tidal zones. To know whether or not the water will rise or fall is a matter of li/e and death. The article gives an impression of the experiments with this booklet for 13/14 year old children. |
