Design research in mathematics education
Open lectures on design research in mathematics education |
Over the last decades, we have seen a growing variety of design-oriented research approaches emerging under various names—such as design experiments, design research, design-based research, and educational design research. As a generic term, we use Design Research to acknowledge the differences between the various approaches. Typical for Design research is its highly interventionist and iterative character; it is often initiated for complex, innovative tasks. It is usually situated in real classrooms with their inevitable messiness.
Between November 1-3, 2023, the research group in mathematics education at Linnaeus University provides three lectures and a panel discussion on design research in mathematics education. The lecturers are internationally well-known educational researchers and will present different perspectives on design research in mathematics education.
