We are in the process of creating a Professional Community to promote Dutch mathematics education research.
target groups: pre-school, primary, secondary, tertiary, and vocational.

On April 10, 2026, 15:30-17:00 we will have a Community kick-off.

Part 1: A discussion on the Future of Mathematics Education Research in the Netherlands. We ask: What are the expectations about the Dutch education landscape in five years, and what is the role of mathematics education research in shaping this landscape?
The discussion will consist of short pitches followed by an open conversation. Would you like to pitch? See below!
Part 2: Discussing vision, and goals for our Professional Community

To start this discussion, we propose the following preliminary vision:
Foster communication and cooperation among all Dutch colleagues interested in mathematics education research, for instance, by hosting annual conferences.
Explore new forms of collaboration between researchers, educational practitioners, and other stakeholders, to share and amplify each other’s expertise.
Strengthen the visibility of this mathematics education community and its expertise, to reach policymakers and researchers in related areas, in the Netherlands and internationally.
Together, we want to co-create an annual format to continue changing ideas and building a community, for instance in the form of a conference.
